ENJOY THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT
On Thursday 28th of July, the moon will be completely plunged into darkness. During the new moon phase, the sunlight doesn’t reach to our satellite, and that means that we have the opportunity to enjoy the night sky with complete clarity.
For this event we have selected one of the most iconic locations in the island: Sa Pedrera de Cala d’hort, better known as Atlantis. This place is already magical in itself, but if we add to that the fact that it’s a place where there is practically no light pollution, at night it is even more so. It’s the perfect place for stargazing.
During the day, the route is quite busy with tourists and can be quite strenuous due to the high summer heat. At night this changes dramatically: Atlantis is quiet and peaceful, and the temperature drops for a more comfortable hike.
EXPERIENCE FEATURES
The route is physically demanding, but as it will be done at night, it’ss much less tough than usual. It has a high difference in height in a short stretch, but it will not be a problem if we go up little by little. In terms of technical level there is not much to point out, but we do recommend a minimum of hiking experience and the use of suitable shoes.
For the descent and ascent it will be absolutely necessary to use torches. We recommend the use of a headlamp to keep your hands free and to be able to walk more comfortably.
What do I need to bring?
- A jacket in case it gets cold at night.
- A lantern or headlamp, for hiking with total security
- Good sports shoes, preferably hiking shoes.
- Water and a snack in case you get hungry.
- Much desire of enjoy.
Throughout the route we will be taking photos of the experience so that you can take home a wonderful memory of this special night.
The entire event will last approximately 2 hours, depending on the pace and the stops made.
